Why “Heronsong?”
Great blue herons have become an important symbol in my life. They are a representation of patience and wisdom (and maybe even good luck!). I saw many herons while contemplating making the leap into starting a private practice, so I thought incorporating them into my name would be fitting.
If you are a fan of birds like me, you may be thinking…
“But herons don’t really sing!”
You’re right! Unlike songbirds, herons make a prehistoric squawking or croaking sound.
Just how herons do not have to warble or whistle to be considered birds, you do not have to be a classically-trained musician (or even sing in tune) to benefit from music therapy! I hold the strong belief that there is no “right” or “wrong” way to create music.
Everyone can and deserves to participate in music.
